Module Overview: Decision Making

You will be expected to make goals, explore careers, choose a major, explore your values and purpose, and start to make some academic and career decisions. Some of you might be evaluating previous choices and looking to affirm or change your decision. Sometimes, there is a built-in assumption that you already know how to make critical life decisions, but this may only be true for some. To help you achieve one of the course learning outcomes - PLAN (designing an education plan that includes goals for learning and a financial plan), we will review some important aspects of decision-making. This module will discuss the steps for decision-making, problem-solving, and approaching ethical decisions.

This module will focus on evaluating and developing a plan to resolve a situation. We will review some videos about decision-making, problem-solving, and ethical situations. We will consider the steps you use to decide and those for solving problems. You will be presented with some ethical decisions and be asked for your responses as to what action you would take in the situation. Hopefully, by the time you finish this module, you will better understand the process you might use to make various decisions in your daily life and professional future.

describe each step in the problem-solving process
please explain the process they use to make decisions regarding their personal, academic, and financial goals
apply the basics of ethical decision-making to complete their goals
